Janis Antonovics
Janis Antonovics (born October 18, 1942 in Riga ) is a British-American ecologist and professor of biology at the University of Virginia .
Life and research
He graduated from Cambridge University with a Ph.D. at the University of Wales . His field of work is broad: Among other things, he researches the interactions between pathogens and the host and the evolution of the underlying genetic systems, the metapopulation development in diseases using the example of anther burn ( Microbotryum sp.) On carnation plants and how diseases push the boundaries of the Affect the spread of a species
Honors
In 1988 he became a member of the Royal Society . In 1991 he received a Guggenheim scholarship . In 1992 Antonovics was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . In 1999 he won the Sewall Wright Award . In the 2010/11 academic year he was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin .
