The Janusz Korzack Comprehensive School is a comprehensive school in the city center of Bottrop . The school was named in 1990 after the Polish doctor, children's book author and important pedagogue Janusz Korczak .
The school was founded in 1986 as the first comprehensive school with six classes in Bottrop. The school consists of class 5 and 6 on Beckstraße and class 7–13 on Horster Straße
Year house 5/6 consists of a school building and a modern sports hall to which a spacious sports field is connected. Year house 7–13 consists of two connected school buildings. In addition, a sports building is available, which houses two sports halls. There is also the pedagogical center, in which a cafeteria and an auditorium can be found. The playgrounds at the main site are divided into two different areas, the larger of which can be used by grades 7-10 and the smaller one for upper school classes (11-13). In the school building itself, the upper level area is located on the 2nd floor of the main building.
At the school, 750 students are currently being taught by around 75 teachers (as of the 2018/2019 school year). The school has several modern subject rooms for the subjects of art , music , biology , NW , chemistry , physics , technology and computer science . In addition, a large kitchen is available to the students for teaching or extra-curricular projects. In order to offer the students as wide a range of subjects as possible, the school cooperates with the Willy Brandt Comprehensive School in Bottrop.
A renovation of the Horster Strasse site is currently being planned.
