Rath is a district of Bedburg in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia . Local mayor is Herbert Förster ( CDU ).

location

Rath is east of Bedburg. State road 213 runs through the village . The direct connection to Bedburg is secured by the district road 37n, which opened in mid-2011 (runs through the recultivated Fortuna-Garsdorf opencast mine ).

history

The district of Rath used to be a hamlet with a few houses and farms. The resettlement of the places Garsdorf and Frauweiler , which were added to Rath, increased the population. Rath was separated from Bedburg until the recultivation of the Fortuna-Garsdorf opencast mine was completed in 2004 . In 1972, Neu St. Luzia, a new Roman Catholic parish church, was consecrated as a replacement for the demolished former monastery church in Frauweiler.

societies

There are numerous clubs and organizations in Rath. As carnival groups there are the Carnival friends Bedburg-Rath from 1972 and the Jecken housewives. The football club SV Union Bedburg-Rath is active in sports. "We come when there is a fire, come when we celebrate!" Is a motto of the local volunteer fire department . Another important group is the Catholic Women's Community of Germany (KFD). Last but not least, the oldest village association should be mentioned, the Bedburg-Rath 1869 bachelor association with over 40 young members. There are also various clubs for children, for example the Rather Tanzgarde, a children's choir and a youth club (Luzie).

education
