Janusz Śniadek
Janusz Józef Śniadek (born May 26, 1955 in Sopot ) was chairman of the National Commission (Komisja Krajowa) of the Polish trade union federation NSZZ Solidarność from 2002 to 2010 .
On September 29, 2006, he was re-elected for a second cadence of four years at the Solidarność Congress in Szczecin . His other functions are vice-chairman of the tripartite social and economic commission, chairman of the committee of the state commission for foreign policy, European integration and MOP. In 2010 he was replaced by Piotr Duda .
Śniadek studied from 1975 to 1981 at the Faculty of Shipbuilding at the Technical University of Gdańsk and obtained a master's degree in mechanical engineering. In 1981 he took a job in the shipyard "Paris Commune" in Gdynia ( Gdynia ) on (now Stocznia Gdynia SA). He has been a union member since August 1981. During the war in the early 1980s, he worked for Solidarność underground and edited the shipyard newspaper "Kadłub". Until 1989 he worked as a designer in the shipyard's design office. In 1989 he was elected chairman of the Solidarność Works Commission. He held this position until 1998. In the cadence from 1992 to 1995 he was a member of the board of the Gdańsk Region of the NSZZ "Solidarność". In 1995 he became a member of the National Commission of the NSZZ "Solidarność", in which in 1997 the function of vice-chairman was assigned to him. In June 1998 he was elected chairman of the board of the Gdańsk region of the NSZZ Solidarność.
Janusz Śniadek describes the completion of the construction of the monument for the victims in December 1970 in front of the Gdynia city administration and the recovery of confiscated funds (1 million old złoty) from the social committee for the construction of the monument as the greatest success of his life . The money was used to buy equipment for the intensive care unit of the city hospital in Gdynia. Another achievement is the establishment of the “Solidarity” health foundation, which among other things equipped the shipyard ambulance with the latest technology.
