Piotr Duda (born June 15, 1962 in Wielowieś , then VR Poland ) has been chairman of the state commission of the Solidarność trade union since October 21, 2010 .

Life

Duda joined Solidarność in 1980 when he started working as a lathe operator at Huta Gliwice . From 1981 to 1983 he did military service in 6 Pomorska Dywizja Powietrznodesantowa (6th Pomeranian Airborne Division ) and was temporarily on a foreign assignment for the UN in Syria . After serving in the army , he returned to the hut. In 1992 he was elected chairman of the Solidarność company organization. Three years later he rose to the presidium of the board of the Solidarność regional administration Śląsko-Dąbrowski, where he was appointed treasurer in 1997. On June 25, 2002, he was elected chairman of the regional administration. He was confirmed in this role in 2006 and 2010.

Duda was a member of the national commission (the highest governing body of this union) for eight years. Since 1998 he has headed the “Foundation for the Health of Children and Adolescents in the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Region” named after Grzegorz Kolosa ( Fundacja na Rzecz Zdrowia Dzieci i Młodzieży Regionu Śląsko-Dąbrowskiego im. Grzegorza Kolosy ). It is the largest non-governmental organization in the region and organizes summer camps for children every year. Duda is a member of the Council for Occupational Safety and Health ( Rada Ochrony Pracy ) in the Sejm and is Deputy Chairman of the Social Dialogue Commission in his voivodeship.

Duda lives in Gliwice. He has two children with his wife Grażyna Duda.

  • Halina Krahelska Prize from the Supreme Labor Inspector for achievements in occupational safety and hygiene
  • Jan Kiliński gold medal for his services to Polish crafts
  • Gold medal for the care of memorials (awarded by the Council for the Preservation of the Memory of Struggles and Martyrdom)
