This film version is only sold as a " direct-to-DVD " compromise with Paramount's cinema project and the rights holders, initially only as a region 1 DVD with the option of a European or worldwide DVD and Blu ray release soon.

Versions

There are four different versions:

  • 2006: "The Classic War of the Worlds" (125 minutes, widescreen)
  • 2007: "HG Wells' The War of the Worlds - Director's Cut - We Can't Stop Them" (135 minutes, widescreen)

criticism

The first reviews spoke of a “truly sensational 1: 1 - true to the Victorian style of the 19th century - word for word, scene by scene, book implementation with a full 180 minutes”. The majority of audience reviews, however, were very negative and denied the director any talent for telling a story.
