In December 2015, a new adaptation of The War of the Worlds was announced. However, it wasn't until May 2017 for the BBC to confirm the production. The miniseries was designed for a season with three episodes. The series is produced by Mammoth Screen with Creasun Media and Red Square. Morris Evans is the producer, while Craig Viveiros directed and Peter Harness wrote the script.
Filming began in Liverpool in April 2018 , so the first moving image material could be released in January 2019 and the first trailer in the following September. Series production was originally planned for the end of 2018. Ultimately celebrated The War of the Worlds on October 6, 2019 at the Canadian Television Stations T + E premiere. The last episode premiered on October 20, 2019 on T + E. In the country of production, the United Kingdom, the first episode first aired on November 17, 2019.
