Janusz Bałdyga

Janusz Bałdyga (* 1954 in Lublin ) is a Polish artist.

From 1974 to 1979 he studied with Stefan Gierowski at the Academy in Warsaw. There he co-founded the artist group Pracownia in 1976 , whose gallery he ran together with Jerzy Onuch and Łukasz Szajna . He has been a member of the performance group Akademia Ruchu since 1979 .

In his performances, Bałdyga combines elements of constructivism and conceptual art . His work is characterized by logic, consistency and clear sign language. Performances by Bałdyga can also be seen outside of Poland, for example in 1997 at the E-Werk in Freiburg im Breisgau, 2001 in Minsk, 2005 at the International Performance Art in Turbine Giswil (Switzerland) and in Taiwan, and in 2007 at the ZAZ Festival in Tel Aviv, 2008 as part of the event The Long Breath - Masters of the International Performance Scene in Maschinenhaus Essen , as part of the Camouflash event in Dresden and at a retrospective of Polish performance artists in Tel Aviv.
