Ernst Robetschek

Ernst Robetschek (born October 30, 1912 in Vienna ; † May 3, 1972 ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ). Robetschek was a member of the Viennese state parliament and a member of the municipal council between 1945 and 1953, and an executive city councilor between 1950 and 1953.

Robetschek attended elementary school and the humanistic grammar school before he passed his school leaving examination in 1930. He then studied law and political science at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1936 for Dr. jur. From then until March 12, 1938, when the German Wehrmacht invaded, Robetschek was employed as a secretary in Vienna's commercial economy and was a professor at the Vienna Commercial Academy . Robetschek was also active as a journalist, editor and correspondent for several foreign newspapers. During the war years Robetschek then worked as an independent tax consultant.

After the end of the war Robetschek became Secretary General of the Austrian Economic Association and was sworn in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament on December 13, 1945 and a member of the municipal council on the following day. In addition, on February 14, 1946, he was elected one of the chairmen of the Vienna City Council. Robetschek resigned from his position as chairman on March 20, 1950, when he succeeded Anton Rohrhofer as city councilor for building authorities and other technical matters. He remained in this office until September 10, 1953 and on that day also resigned from his Landtag and municipal council mandate for health reasons.

Robetschek published several publications on economic policy, was deputy regional group chairman of the Vienna regional group of the Austrian Economic Association and first president of the Chamber of Public Accountants. In addition, he was federal chairman of the Association of Austrian Public Accountants.

In his spare time he directed a band and composed. He published his musical works under the name Ernst Robert . He was a consultant to the Austrian Composers' Union.
