Japan Atomic Industrial Forum

The Japan Atomic Industrial Forum, Inc. ( JAIF for short , English for Japanese 社 団 法人 日本 原子 力 産業 協会 , shadan-hōjin Nippon genshiryoku sangyō kyōkai , dt. About "Corporation ( shadan-hōjin ) Association of the Japanese nuclear power industry", short 原産協会 , Gensan Kyōkai ), was founded on a private initiative on March 1, 1956 as Nippon genryoku-sangyō kaigi ( 日本 原 力 産業 会議 , "Conference of the Japanese nuclear power industry") as a non-profit organization for the civil use of nuclear energy to advertise in Japan .

Every spring a conference is held for representatives of the global nuclear industry. Following a reform in 2005, the organization was given its current name, under which it was registered in April 2006. The chairman has been Takashi Imai , former president of the Keidanren Business Association , since 2006 . Its headquarters are in Minato , Tokyo Prefecture , and its headquarters are in the Shimbashi district of Tokyo .

During the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster , JAIF published daily reports on the state of the Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and summaries of NHK news on the subject. This made the association an important source of information for international observers. Excerpts from the JAIF reports were translated into German daily by the Society for Plant and Reactor Safety .
