Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil

The Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil ("Garden of the Greenhouses of Auteuil") is called part of the Botanical Garden of the City of Paris . It is located in the Bois de Boulogne , was designed by Jean Camille Formigé (1845–1926) and inaugurated in 1898. Originally it was called Jardin fleuriste municipal (“urban flower garden”), served the mass production of plants for Parisian parks and was surrounded by tree nurseries .

Collections

Noteworthy is u. a. the collection of endemic plants from the French overseas territory of New Caledonia (130 taxa , e.g. several species of araucaria ), many of which are being seen for the first time outside their island of origin. Furthermore, the collection of useful plants from the Sahel zone (55 taxa) is of particular interest.

The families of orchids (515 taxa) and bromeliads (400 taxa) are particularly well represented. Furthermore, the genera Begonia (580 taxa), Caladium (130 taxa), Ficus (120 taxa), Peperomia (130 taxa) and Philodendron (60 taxa) are collected.
