Jariban , Somali Jaribaan, Arabic جاريبان, is a city in the central region of Mudug Somalia. It is the capital of the district of the same name and is administered by Puntland after the collapse of Somalia . According to data from 2005, 6341 people live in the city itself, and 39,207 people in the Jariban district.

Due to the unclear transcription, there are numerous different spellings of the name: Jariiban, Jeriban, Geriban, Jaribaan, Jirriban or Jirriiban. The old name of the city, El Hamurre, and variants of it, such as Xamur or Xamure, are also in circulation. The city is said to have originated around 1945 at a nearby water source.

education

Jariban has several educational institutions. According to the Punctual Education Ministry, there are 7 primary schools and one secondary school in the Jariban district.

traffic

From Jariban, roads lead to Garowe, Galcaio, Eyl and Garacad. In fact, the roads can hardly be used or only with all-wheel drive vehicles. In 2012, the Puntland Highway Authority announced that it would build a federal highway from Jariban to connect it with other cities on the coast.
