Jarnsaxa (mythology)

Jarnsaxa ( Old Norse Járnsaxa "iron knife") is a giant name in Norse mythology that cannot be clearly assigned. According to tradition, Jarnsaxa is one of the nine Aegir daughters of the sea goddess Rán , who gave birth together with her sisters Heimdall . According to another tradition ( Snorri Sturluson ) "rival Jarnsaxas" was another name for Sif , Thor's wife . Jarnsaxa bore Thor the sons Magni and Modi ; Magni was Thor's favorite son.
