Jaroslav Kuťák

Jaroslav Kuťák (* 1956 ) is a Czech writer and translator.

Life

Kuťák studied philosophy and German at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He began to write and translate during his studies. After successfully completing his studies, he worked as an editor for television until 1990. In addition to his work as a translator (including works by Fred Breinersdorfer , Kurt Mahr and Karl-Herbert Scheer ), he also worked in various other professions.

Since his successful debut in 1990 with a crime novel, he has only devoted himself to writing.

Kuťák is married and has three children.

Awards

  • Kuťák has been nominated three times in the Czech Republic as the author of the best crime story of the year.
  • Strafe muss sein was awarded the Jiří Marek Prize for the best Czech detective novel of 2000 .

Works

Since it was first told in 1990, around 300 crime short stories have been created to this day. In German translation you can find some in the anthologies The murderer puts on the sneakers and the murderer unpacks the rod .

In his novels, Kuťák repeatedly addresses the sport of golf. As in some of his stories, the protagonists are the detectives Karel Schwarz and the beautiful all-rounder Marie .
