Jaroslav Tůma

Jaroslav Tůma (* 1956 in Prague ) is a Czech organist .

While studying at the Prague Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts with Milan Slechta and Zuzana Růžičková , he attracted attention at international competitions.

His greatest successes include first prize at the organ and improvisation competitions in Nuremberg in 1980 and in Haarlem 1986. He also received awards in Linz 1978, Prague Spring 1979 and the Bach Competition in Leipzig in 1980. In 1990 Jaroslav Tuma performed the entire organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach until 1993 , for which he was awarded the annual prize of the “Czech Music Fund”.

Jaroslav Tuma has been teaching at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague since 1990 .
