Jaroslava Krejsová

Jaroslava Krejsová (born January 11, 1937 in Nový Dvůr near Vimperk ) is a Czech writer and regional historian who deals with the death marches to Volary ( German Wallern ).

Life

Krejsová was born in the village of Nový Dvůr. Among other things, she attended elementary school in Volary and the commercial school in Vimperk , where she worked as a technical and economic employee in a wood processing company. Krejsová has two children and four grandchildren.

Act

Krejsová, together with other young people, tended the graves in one of the cemeteries in Volary. She later learned that they were the 95 victims of the death march of the Helmbrechts satellite camp . Since 1955 she has been researching the fate of these women and looking for survivors of the march who lived in southern Bohemia . With her grandson Zdeněk Krejsa, Krejsová founded the KreBul ops civic association , which dealt with the Holocaust , spoke to contemporary witnesses and organized visits to concentration camps. There was also the area of ​​adult education, volunteering with young people and international youth exchanges.

Krejsová and Zdeněk Krejsa were honored by the Czech Ministry of Defense for the maintenance of war graves in October 2018 .
