Yaroslav Gennadijewitsch Belousov

Yaroslav Gennadijewitsch Belousov ( Russian Ярослав Геннадиевич Белоусов ; born July 30, 1991 in Moscow ) is a student of political science at  Lomonossow University in the fourth year and a defendant in the " Bolotnaya trial ".

Life

Belousov was never known as a political activist. But he was twice an election observer, once a member of the election commission of a polling station. As a student, Belousov wrote a paper on the role of social media in protest rallies. He came to the demonstration in Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012 for study purposes.

Detention

Belousov attended an approved rally in Bolotnaya Square in Moscow on May 6, 2012, and was arrested on June 9, 2012, and later charged. Belousov had been in custody until the verdict. Like many other Bolotnaya prisoners, he is accused of participating in mass riots (Art. 212 Paragraph 2 StGB RF ) and using violence against state representatives (Art. 318 StGB RF).

The Duma deputy Vyacheslav Tetyokin and around 10 municipal deputies vouched for Belousov. The Russian poet and essayist Lev Rubinstein supported Yaroslav Belousov and published a video about him.

Judge Nikischina listed other mitigating circumstances:

"Belousov is married and has a three-year-old child who was hospitalized twice last year and had to undergo operations. Belousov's wife, a student herself, testified in court that she has had to look after the child at home since then and that she has had material difficulties because In addition, the administration of the remand prison has determined that Belousov does not complain, reacts appropriately to educational measures and is not prone to excesses. " The Moscow courts continued to extend his pre-trial detention, even though his relatives were willing to pay bail.

Belousov was sentenced to two and a half years in a prison camp on February 21, 2014. Together with him, on February 24, 2014, another six people were sentenced to prison terms of two and a half to six years.

Belousov suffers from asthma and is in poor health (his poor eyesight has worsened to −9 and −5 diopters).

In 2014, Belousov was released from prison.
