Jason's cradle
Jason's Cradle is a water rescue device from the British company Land and Marine Products , which has been tested and approved according to SOLAS regulations .
Technical details
Jason's Cradle (Cradle, English for "cradle") is the brand name for a product of the English company "Land and Marine Products Limited". The rescue equipment was created out of special requirements and was subsequently developed into a product range.
application
The equipment makes it possible to get people out of the water into a boat with little effort . In the case of unconscious or severely hypothermic casualties, the device is hung outboard and the person, like a ship in a dry dock , is embedded in a flexible grid. The grid is fixed on one side in the rescue zone on the boat and is designed in such a way that when it is retrieved it forms a tube in which the patient is brought on board. Rescuing while lying down means that the victim is only moved a little, which reduces the risk of death by salvage . Especially the horizontal salvage one of the most important requirements for water rescue.
The device can also be used as a ladder- like entry aid and can be expanded using a quick-connect system.
material
In order to meet the environmental conditions and requirements of rescue operations, Jason's Cradle is made of seawater-proof materials: the rectangular, 14 cm high and 18 cm wide parts made of polyacetal , polyethylene and 316 stainless steel create a grid with almost any dimensions.
variants
- Jason's Cradle Standard: The standard version is a rescue aid that is suitable for ships up to 3 meters high above water.
- Jason's Cradle FRC-Kit: FRC stands for Fast Rescue Crafts and is a special version especially for fast lifeboats.
- Jason's Cradle Stretcher: This addition Lying Carrying has buoyancy bodies, which are secured to the flexible grid at the side, similar to a swimming wear . It is intended for rescuing water from great heights, for example with the cable winch of a helicopter or the crane of an oil rig .
- Jason's Cradle Scramble Net: The climbing net consists of several elements that are held together with spacers, which are attached across the grid. It is comparable to a pilot ladder . It is used, for example, in evacuations as a descent aid from ships into a life raft .
distribution
Jason's Cradle is a flexible recovery platform for use on lifeboats, shipping companies , commercial seafaring and aid organizations , such as Search and Rescue (SAR) and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) , as well as on offshore structures . The rescue devices in the Jason's Cradle range are considered to be world leaders.
criticism
Due to the rolling movement that occurs when the patient is recovered, the device is not suitable for rescuing patients with spinal injuries or other broken bones .
