Jason Leonard (born August 14, 1968 in Barking ) is a retired English rugby player . He played in the position of the pillar . He held the record for most international matches until 2005, which he had to give up to George Gregan . If you count his games for the British and Irish Lions , Gregan only overtook him on June 17, 2006. Leonard has 119 international appearances, 114 of them for England. As a player, he won all of the major international trophies he could win: Triple Crowns , Grand Slams and the 2003 World Cup .
In his impressive career he played successfully in the amateur and professional times of fifteen rugby sports for the club teams Barking, Saracens and Harlequins . His first international match took place in 1990 against the Pumas from Argentina . He played until the final of the 2003 World Cup, when he came on the field as a substitute and especially stabilized the crowd . This was his fourth world championship and the second time he had played in a world championship final. In 1991 he had lost with England to Australia.
Jason Leonard is undisputedly one of the legends of English rugby and one of the great role models of the sport.
