Jason Wu
Jason Wu (born September 27, 1982 in Taipei , Taiwan ) is a Taiwanese-Canadian fashion designer . He became known worldwide through the dress that Michelle Obama wore at her husband's inauguration ball.
Life
Childhood and youth
Wu emigrated with his parents at the age of nine.
As a designer
In 2007 Wu founded his own fashion label. He designed numerous dresses for Hollywood stars and for the first lady Michelle Obama. In 2010, Wu won the Swarowsky Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America . In June 2013 it was announced that he would be the chief designer for Hugo Boss' women's collection .
At the US President's Inauguration Ball in 2009, Michelle Obama wore a dress with a bare shoulder by Jason Wu, making the designer internationally known. At the 2013 ball, Obama again wore a dress by Wu, this time a red dress with drapes. Wu lives in New York City. In April 2016 he married his long-time partner Gustavo Rangel.
