In the parliamentary election in October 2018 , the JKP became the third strongest force with 13.6% of the vote and 16 of the 100 seats in the Saeima . Since January 2019 she has been part of the coalition government under Krišjānis Kariņš . Content profile
The party's program is primarily aimed at combating corruption. Two prominent candidates from the party, Juta Strīķe and Juris Jurašs , were civil servants at the Bureau of Corruption Prevention and Control (KNAB) prior to entering politics in 2017 . The party wants to merge the KNAB, the security police and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution into a national security agency that is supposed to fight corruption and other threats to national security. In addition, the JKP calls for the closure of gambling halls, a ban on short-term loans, an increase in the minimum wage (to € 500 per month), doctors' salaries (to € 1,700 per month) and child benefit. Government spending on science and research is expected to rise to 1.5% of gross domestic product . In return, it wants to reduce the number of employees in the public sector to 30% and the number of ministries from 13 to 8.
