Javier Calleja Revilla (born May 12, 1978 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish soccer player and today's soccer coach .

Career

The 1.71-meter-tall winger played a total of 104 league games for Málaga FC . In the 2007/08 season he rose with Málaga from the Spanish Segunda División to the Primera División .

He also played four Champions League games for Villarreal FC . In summer 2012 he ended his football career.

On September 25, 2017 it was announced that Calleja, succeeding Fran Escribá new head coach of Villarreal is. On December 10, 2018, Calleja was sacked after the 3-2 loss to Celta Vigo and 17th place in the league. At the end of January 2019 he returned to Villarreal as head coach and worked there until July 2020.
