Javier Alberto González Barrera (born November 13, 1979 in Sogamoso ) is a former Colombian road cyclist .

Cycling career

Javier González began his career in 1998 with the Avianca-Telecom-Kelme cycling team . From 2001 he drove for 05 Orbitel . In his second year there he won a stage at the Clásica Alcaldía de Pasca , and he won a stage, as well as the overall classification of the Vuelta a Antioquia . In the 2003 season he was successful in stages of the Vuelta al Valle del Cauca , the Cláscia Alcaldía de Pasca , the Vuelta a Cundinamarca and the Clásico RCN . He was also able to win the overall standings at the Vuelta a Cundinamarca . In 2004 he moved to the Spanish team Saunier Duval-Prodir , 2005 to Andalucía-Paul Versan and 2006 to Massi . At Massi he won a stage at the Doble Sucre Potosí GP Cemento Fancesa , the overall classification of the Clásica de Fusagasugá , a stage and the team time trial of the Vuelta a Colombia , a stage and the overall classification at the Clásico RCN and a part of the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides .

In the 2007 season González drove for UNE Orbitel, where he won a stage of the Clásico RCN . In 2008 he switched to the amateur team Lotería de Boyacá , where he again won a stage of the Clásico RCN in 2008 and a section of the Clásica Alcaldía de Pasca in 2009 . But in 2010 Javier González is driving for the Colombian Continental Team UNE-EPM . In his first season there, he won the first stage of the Vuelta a Colombia .
