Javier Olivar

Javier Olivar , full name Javier Olivar Nuñez , (* 1962 ) is a former Uruguayan athlete .

Career

Olivar was active in the running competitions on the sprint courses. At the Junior South American Championships in 1980 and 1981 he won the bronze in the 110-meter hurdles and over 400-meter hurdles . The following year he took part with the Uruguayan team in the 1982 South American Games in Argentina . There he won silver in the 110 meter hurdles and bronze in the 400 meter hurdles. He also secured another bronze medal with the 4 x 400 meter relay in Uruguay. On the 400-meter hurdle course, he set a Uruguayan record with a run time of 52.50 seconds. He was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas . There he finished 8th in the 400-meter hurdles.

Today (as of June 15, 2015) Olivar is still the owner of the Uruguayan national record set on October 27, 1984 (14.89 seconds) on the 110-meter hurdles course.
