Javier Zapata Villada (born October 16, 1969 ) is a former Colombian cyclist .

In the course of his active career, Javier Zapata won four stages of the Vuelta a Colombia , having won a stage in the U23 event in 1989. In 1996 he started at the Olympic Games in Atlanta : he finished 37th in the individual time trial and 84th in the road race .

He finished second in national road racing championships three times. In 2004 he won the Doble Sucre Potosí race , and in 2008 a stage of the Vuelta a Bolivia .

After finishing his racing career, Zapata set five bike trial records in the Guinness Book of World Records . He also became director of the Clásico El Colombiano cycling event series in 2016 .
