Jayne Baxter (born November 5, 1955 ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Life

Baxter lived most of her life in the Fife area . She attended Queen Anne High School in Dunfermline and then went to Napier University in Edinburgh for a bachelor's degree in economics. Between 1975 and 2010, Baxter worked for the government of Fife, including social and youth work and economic and urban development. In 2010 she resigned to focus on running for the 2011 Scottish General Election . Baxter is a mother of two and a grandmother of three.

Political career

In the 2011 general election, Baxter ran for the first time to national elections. However, she did not apply for the direct mandate of a constituency, but was set on the regional electoral list for the electoral region of Mid Scotland and Fife . As a result of the election result, the Labor Party received only three list seats in this region, which went to John Park , Richard Simpson and Claire Brennan-Baker . However, in December 2012, John Park resigned to focus on his union activities. For this reason, Baker moved up as the next-placed list candidate and was sworn in on December 11th in the Scottish Parliament .
