The Jaynes Islands are a group of small islands off the Walgreen coast of Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . In the Amundsen Sea they are 30 km west of the southwestern extension of the Canisteo peninsula .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1968 after James T. Jaynes, who used equipment at Byrd Station in 1966.
