Jazzkaar

Jazzkaar (Tallinn International Jazz Festival) is a 1990 year in April in Tallinn in Estonia held an applicable international jazz festival.

It takes around 10 days. A forerunner were jazz festivals, which took place in Tallinn in 1966 and 1967, until further performances were prevented by the Soviet authorities at the time ( Jazz Festival in Tallinn 1967 ). The marina pavilion at the harbor was built especially for the festival.

Here were, among others, Bobby McFerrin (2011), Dianne Reeves (2010), Jan Garbarek (1997, 2003, 2012), Richard Bona (2002, 2003, 2011), John Scofield (2004) and repeatedly Charles Lloyd (first in the predecessor Festival 1967 with a legendary concert, then 1997, 2005, 2013), Chick Corea (1994, 2012) and Angie Stone (2009).

Since 2010 there has been an Urban City Project with performances by jazz musicians in public places in the city (initiated by the jazz saxophonist Siim Aimla ).
