Jazzpospolita is a Polish jazz band .
history
The name Jazzpospolita is an allusion to the old Polish word rzeczpospolita , republic / res publica . The band was founded in 2008 by Stefan Nowakowski and Wojtek Oleksiak in Warsaw . Bartek Borowiec (guitar) and Daniel Grzeszykowski (saxophone) were replaced by Michał Przerwa-Tetmajer and Michał Załęski before the debut EP was recorded.
The music of Jazzpospolita oscillates between jazz, rock and electronics ; it has been compared to bands like Jaga Jazzist or Tortoise . Sometimes her songs are closer to post-rock than jazz.
The band tours extensively in Europe and performs regularly at jazz festivals. 2015 they toured together with Pink Freud by China .
In 2014 Michał Przerwa-Tetmajer's debut album Doktor filozofii was released .
