Jean-Claude Mimran

Jean-Claude Mimran (* 1945 ) is a French entrepreneur and art collector. His name had been listed among the 300 richest Swiss people since at least 2006. He lives in Gstaad , Switzerland.

Life

Jean-Claude Mimran is the son of Jacques Mimran, who grew up as a Sephardic Jew under poor conditions in Algeria and worked his way up to become a sugar manufacturer and shipowner, but lost everything again in World War II and had to start all over again. Jacques was married to a Corsican woman, so the son Jean-Claude sees himself as a Corsican Jew. As an Algerian French , the family left Algeria and chose Switzerland as their place of residence.

Jean-Claude Mimran has two brothers with whom he runs the Monaco- based Groupe Mimran after the early death of his father in 1975 . This includes in particular the Compagnie Sucrière Sénégalaise (CSS) in Richard Toll , Senegal , which was founded by his father and in which his entire fortune was invested and, according to the status of 2006, in a sugar refinery and on the 8200 hectare sugar cane plantation 2400 workers all year round and during the seven-month harvest season employs 5200 workers.

In addition to services and banking, the group also includes the Canadian mining company Teranga Gold , which has been operating a gold mine in the open-cast mine near Sabodala in the southern Senegalese region of Kédougou since 2009 .

Jean-Claude Mimran is the father of five children from two marriages. After graduating from high school, he joined the family business and proved himself in various positions. After his military service in France, he set out for Africa. From the age of 22 he worked there at his father's side for eight years until his father's death.
