Jean-Francis Samba

Jean-Francis Samba (born July 5, 1963 in Brazzaville , † August 31, 2014 ) was a Congolese football player .

Athletic career

Born in the Congo, Samba grew up in Sarcelles on the outskirts of Paris , where he had come with his parents when he was twelve. He began his career at the local soccer club Sarcelles ASS before moving to AS Cannes in 1984 . The striker stayed there until 1989, at the same time he became a national player in the Congolese national team . At the third edition of the Central African Games , he suffered a broken leg in 1987 when he met the Zaires national team .

In 1989 Samba moved to Stade Reims within France , where he stayed for a season. He then worked for JS Saint-Pierre , US Cambuston and US Stade Tamponnaise on Réunion . He contributed to several regional titles. Later he got involved in youth work there.

On the night of August 31 to September 1, 2014 Samba died at the age of 51 years of a cancer .
