successes

With 21 national championship titles (most recently five times in a row since 2015), JS Saint-Pierre is the most successful club in La Réunion. There are quite strong competitors there, namely the US Stade Tamponnaise and AS Saint-Louis . The JSSP won the seasons of 1956, 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994, 2008, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. As only the second club from one of the French overseas territories - previously only Geldar Kourou from Guiana ( 1989 ) had done this - JS Saint-Pierre managed to reach the sixteenth-finals in the 2019/20 cup season for the Coupe de France , after the Team had prevailed on the pitch of the second division Chamois Niort with 2: 1. This big surprise was even worth a front page (“The Keys to Paradise”) for the sports daily L'Équipe . Then Saint-Pierre's coach stunned the public by stating that he would rather be eliminated from a strong first division club in the next round instead of the fourth division SAS Épinal - to which the JSSP then lost 1-0 after extra time - possibly a chance at that To have progressed.
