US Stade Tamponnaise was a football club from Le Tampon on Réunion , a French island in the Indian Ocean . With ten championship titles, Stade Tamponnaise was one of the most successful clubs on the island.
history
The association was formed in 1982 through a merger of S / S Tamponnaise (founded in 1922) and Stade Tamponnais (founded in 1971). In 1991, winning the Réunions championship was celebrated for the first time, and in the same year the club also won the Réunions Cup. Further championships followed in 1992 and 1999. Since 2003 Stade Tamponnaise has won five titles in a row. In 1994 the club competed internationally for the first time. Further appearances in the CAF Champions League , the Cup Winners Cup and the CAF Cup followed. The greatest success was reaching the quarter-finals of the CAF Cup 1996 and the Cup Winner Cup in 1994.
After the club presented a balance sheet of EUR 900,000 in debts at the beginning of 2014, the "High Court of Saint-Pierre" decided on June 17, 2014 to dissolve the club.
