Jean-Henri Dupin
Jean-Henri Dupin (born September 1, 1791 in Paris ; † April 5, 1887 there ) was a French playwright and librettist .
Dupin wrote over 500 pieces, a not inconsiderable number of them in collaboration with Eugène Scribe and Antoine-François Varner , which made him one of the most important and most enthusiastic librettists of the 19th century.

Trivia
At Henri Meilhac , the librettist of the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet , Dupin wrote the following lines after the premiere:
- “Man meets woman. He thinks it's beautiful. That's the first act. He loves her, she loves him. This is the second act. She no longer loves him. This is the third act. He's murdering her. This is the fourth! And you call that a drama? It's a crime, hear me, a crime! "
