Jean-Luc Vez

Jean-Luc Vez (born October 12, 1957 in Friborg ; † December 28, 2017 there ; authorized to reside in Cheseaux-sur-Lausanne ) was a Swiss administrative lawyer. From 2000 to 2014 he was head of the Federal Office of Police .

Life

Vez studied law at the University of Friborg and graduated in 1985 with a Legum Doctor . He then obtained a diploma in international security policy at the Geneva University Institute for International Studies . From 1981 to 1985 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Friborg.

From 1986 to 1990, Vez then worked in the military department and was then deputy special commissioner of the Federal Council for state security files until 1992 . From 1992 to 1996 he was the head of public relations for the government. From 1996 he was Deputy Director of Fedpol and Head of the Legal and Data Protection Department. In May 2000 he became head of the Federal Office of Police and remained in this position until 2014.

On April 1, 2014, Vez joined the World Economic Forum as Managing Director for Security Policy and Security Affairs , where he worked on strategic and security policy issues.
