Jean-Pierre Roy

Jean-Pierre Roy (born September 12, 1963 ) is a Haitian ski racer . Roy fled to France with his parents at the age of two . He started skiing at the age of 39. After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti - and a bet - Roy wanted to show that there was more to his home country than misery. After all, he took part in the 2011 Alpine World Ski Championships and finished 127th in giant slalom and 78th in slalom . In order to be eligible for the world championship, Roy founded the Haitian ski association Fédération Haïtienne de Ski , which he also presides over. At the 2013 Alpine World Ski Championships , he finished the giant slalom in 94th and the slalom in 64th place after having only contested two races in the past 24 months.

Roy has a grandchild and runs a computer shop in a Paris suburb.
