Jean Baptiste Soehnlin

Jean Baptiste Soehnlin (born February 25, 1825 in Hartmannsweiler ; † March 26, 1890 in Neuf-Brisach ) was a Catholic clergyman and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Soehnlin attended university schools and then studied theology. He made extensive trips, including a. to the Holy Land , and was professor of literature, as well as city pastor and dean in Neubreisach. After the terrible bombardment of Neubreisach, he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor. Soehnlin was the author of two French works: La mère du Croisé and Lettres sur la Terre Sainte and worked for several French newspapers.

From 1874 to 1877 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Alsace-Lorraine 3 ( Colmar ).
