Jean Delaporte
Jean Delaporte , sometimes also de La Porte or de la Porte, was an officer and diplomat in the Swedish service during the Thirty Years' War .
Life
Nothing is known about the origin and descent. According to the current state of research, Delaporte came to Anhalt with the Swedish army under Lennart Torstensson . In late autumn 1644, Delaporte was accepted into the Fruitful Society by Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen, together with Lieutenant General Corneille de Mortaigne , Greve Robert Douglas and Friherre Alexander Erskein .
Prince Ludwig I gave Delaporte the end-of-species company name and the motto for air and earth . The yellow carrots ( Daucus carota L. ssp. Sativus Hoffm. Arcang. ) Were assigned to Delaporte as an emblem . Delaporte's entry can be found in the Koethen Society Register under no. 422. There, the rhyme law is also noted, with which Delaporte thanks for the admission:
- It resembles the earth and air of the carrot species
- In it it is planted: I accept artend drumb
- Wolt this name to me: Let a person travel
- Be virtuous to everyone, and never shame yourself
- To learn something good, whether the air is hard,
- Let his mind be happy to do this:
- There it will be fruitful and well-behaved
- And go out and in with male benefits.
