from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jean Gunthert (* 1789 in Vevey , † 1867 ) was a Swiss architect of classicism .

education

Gunthert may have been trained by his father, a master mason. There is still a need for research on the person and work. The first known building in Vevey is the Cercle du Marché from 1818. Gunthert's buildings are located in his hometown and in Chablais . Jean was - after his father, the master bricklayer Jean Paul or Jakob (1757-1851) - the founder of a family of architects - up to his great-great-grandchildren his descendants worked in the profession in Vevey.
