Jean V de Créquy

Jean V. de Créquy († 1474) was a founding member of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1430 (Diploma No. 24)

He was the son of Jean IV. De Créquy († 1411) and Jeanne de Roye (who in turn was the aunt of Philippe de Ternant and Guy de Roye , in turn from 1430 and 1461 members of the Order of the Golden Fleece). He succeeded his father as lord of, among others, Créquy and Fressin , and received Canaples and Moliens from him in a will .

At the court of Duke Philip the Good of Burgundy, who knighted him in 1429, he was First Chamberlain ( Premier Chambellan ). When the Order of the Golden Fleece was founded on January 10, 1430 in Bruges , he became one of the 25 members. In 1436 he fought in the siege of Calais and was later assigned to the Garrison of Gravelines .

In 1457 he acquired the lordship of Pontdormy from Edmond de Ville and his wife Jacqueline de Wancourt. In 1461 he was sent to Aragón by Duke Philip to bring the insignia to King John II for acceptance into the order. In 1464 he was together with Guillaume Fillastre , Bishop of Tournai , envoy of the Duke to the French King Louis XI. In 1465 he went to war again and took part in the Battle of Montlhéry on July 16 . He made his will on September 2, 1468, and died six years later at an old age.

family

Jean V. de Créquy was married twice. His first marriage was with Marguerite de Bours, heirloom daughter of Guillaume de Bours, called Wicart, lord of Bours and royal chamberlain, and Catherine de Pouques; this marriage remained childless.

His second wife was from 1456 Louise de La Tour († 1469), daughter of Bertrand V de La Tour, Lord of La Tour , Count of Boulogne and Auvergne ( House of La Tour d'Auvergne ) and Jacquette du Peschin. Children from this marriage are:
