Jean Van Leeuwen

Jean Van Leeuwen (born December 26, 1937 ) is an American children's author.

Life

Jean Van Leeuwen grew up in Rutherford , New Jersey . She studied journalism at Syracuse University in New York State . She later moved to New York City , where she worked in the children's book division of a publishing company. In 1967 she had her first own publication, Timothy's Flower .

Jean Van Leeuwen penned over fifty children's books, including the stories by Oliver Grunz , from which - inspired by her two (then) small children - a series of books for novice readers developed under the title Oliver and Amanda . The author is best known for her series ( The Great ... ) with stories of a trio of mice and their adventures in Manhattan, one of which was The Big Cheese Conspiracy , Who Mouseed Santa Claus? and Die Große Rettungsaktion also three titles have appeared in German.

Jean Van Leeuwen lives in Chappaqua, New York.
