Jean Zumstein

Jean Zumstein (born October 7, 1944 ) is a Swiss Protestant theologian and New Testament scholar.

Life

After attending grammar school in Biel / Bienne, Jean Zumstein began studying Protestant theology at the University of Lausanne in 1963 , where he spent a year - after spending time abroad at the University of Strasbourg (1965/66) and the University of Göttingen (1967/68) 1968 passed the licentiate. In the following two years he was an assistant at the Institute for Biblical Studies in Lausanne; A research year in Heidelberg followed in 1970/71 . In 1972 Jean Zumstein was ordained pastor. In 1974 he was awarded the Doctorat d'Etat with venia legendi in Lausanne .

From 1975 to 1990 Zumstein was full professor of New Testament science at the University of Neuchâtel ; from 1990 until his retirement in 2010 he held the chair for New Testament at the University of Zurich .

Jean Zumstein is married and has two children.
