biography

Jeanette Campbell's father, John, was a Scotsman living in Argentina. During a visit to Europe in 1914, the family got involved in World War I and was unable to return to South America. Two years later, Jeanette Campbell was born in France and the family soon returned to Argentina. There she emulated her older sister Dorothy , the Argentine champion over 100 m freestyle, after. A good performance at the South American Swimming Championships in 1935 made her the only woman to be appointed to the 1936 Argentine Olympic team. At the XI.
