Jedinowerzy (believers, believers) ( Russian Единоверцы , scientific transliteration Edinovercy ) are ancient ritualists within the Russian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Moscow, d. H. Old Believers who are tolerated by the Orthodox Church and who have submitted to the hierarchy of the official “neo-ritualistic” Russian Church while maintaining old rites and customs.

On October 27, 1800 under Tsar Paul and Metropolitan Plato (Peter Lewschin; 1737-1812) the Russian Orthodox Church accepted old ritualists on the condition that they accept priests (who have not left the official church) of the Russian Orthodox Allowed church in their parishes. The old ritualists were allowed to use the old liturgical rites before Nikon's reform. The anathema of the council of 1667 (“curse of 1667”) was not lifted, which was only done by the regional council of the Russian Orthodox Church in the monastery of the Trinity and Saint Sergius in Sagorskhappened in 1971. The Moscow Council of 1917/18 finally granted the Jedinowerzy four vicar bishops.
