Jeffrey Jacques (born April 4, 1953 in Preston , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls in the World Hockey Association during his career .

Career

Jeff Jacques first played from 1970 to 1973 for the St. Catharines Black Hawks in the Ontario Hockey Association , where the winger was active as a team captain in the 1972/73 season . The Canadian had previously had to undergo knee surgery in the summer of 1972. When NHL Amateur Draft in 1973 elected him California Golden Seals in the third round at position 34, while the Winnipeg Jets in the WHA Amateur Draft in 1973 the rights to Jacques for the World Hockey Association secured. The 1973/74 season spent the right-shooter with the Jacksonville Barons in the American Hockey League . In the following season Jacques was initially on the ice for the Mohawk Valley Comets in the North American Hockey League , before the offensive player was appointed to the squad of the Toronto Toros for the first time during the season . On January 12, 1975 he made his debut for the Toros in the World Hockey Association and was successful in the game against the Houston Eros with four hits to the 7: 4 victory for the Toros. Jacques scored three goals in the last period.

The Canadian finished his first season in Toronto with a record of 24 points in 47 games. In the season 1975/76 the striker completed his personally most successful season under head coach Bobby Baun and finished the regular season with 50 points scorer in 81 games. The franchise was then relocated to Birmingham , Alabama , and Jacques played another full season in the WHA for the Birmingham Bulls . In September 1977 he was transferred to the Edmonton Oilers together with Lou Nistico in exchange for Pete Laframboise , Dan Ardnt and Chris Evans , for which the Canadian never appeared. Instead, he played eleven games for the amateur team Brantford Alexanders in the 1977/78 season before the attacker ended his career.
