Jeff Smith (* 1960 in McKees Rocks , Pennsylvania , USA ) is an American comic illustrator and publisher.

Smith is the creator of the comic series Bone , which he has published himself in his own series since 1991. The series was originally designed for the screen. In 1994 alone he received four Eisner and three Harvey Awards for Bone . He started out doing strips in college newspapers and as an illustrator in an animation studio (Disney).

In 2007, his four-part series Shazam !: The Monster Society of Evil about the roots of Captain Marvel was published . He is currently working on RASL , a fast-paced science fiction series about an art thief who has the possibility of dimensional leaps but also has personal problems. A six-page preview was released at San Diego Comic-Con 2007; the series started in 2008 in an oversized booklet format. Smith published the 32-page comic for children "Little Mouse Gets Ready" in 2009 in the Toon Book series .
