Jefferson Public Radio (JPR) is a regional public radio network for southern Oregon and northern California . It is broadcast from the Southern Oregon University campus in Ashland near Medford . The name comes from the unreacted state of Jefferson .

history

The original KSOR transmitter went on air in 1969 as a 10-watt station after it was founded at Southern Oregon College . In the following years he broadcast his programs in southern Oregon and northern California using an ever-growing network of transmitters. The transmission area was expanded by setting up new relays in the neighboring mountains. In the 1980s, the station expanded its range and called itself Jefferson Public Radio from 1989 .

Distribution and memberships

JPR and its broadcasters are members of National Public Radio (NPR), Western States Public Radio (WSPR), and the Northwest News Network.
