Jeffrey Isaac

Jeffrey Isaac (* 1956 in New York ) is a painter and video artist.

Life

He spent his childhood in Switzerland. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design in New York and the Camberwell School of Art in London. Jeffrey Isaac has exhibited his paintings in Switzerland, the USA, Italy and Germany since 1976. In 1979, in New York, he founded the self-proclaimed smallest magazine of its kind in the world, Public Illumination Magazine . In 1986 he moved to Umbria near the city of Spoleto . There he met the American artist Sol LeWitt , both of whom were friends. From 1999 to 2006, Isaac devoted himself more to video art. In 2004 a scandal broke out in the city of Foligno . Jeffrey Isaac decided to paint a standard for the central procession showing Saint Felicianus naked on a horse. In 2007 he designed an animation for Ellen Stewart's play Gozzi e Goldoni europei at the 38th Venice Biennale Teatro. In 2009 a selection from this period was shown in the Detournement Venise exhibition at the 53rd Venice Biennale d´Arte.
