The Rhode Island School of Design ( RISD for short ) is an American college for art and design in Providence , the capital of the US state Rhode Island .
history
The college, founded in 1877, is located in the immediate vicinity of Brown University on the grounds of the College Hills of Rhode Island. Both institutes share academic and social resources and offer collaborative courses that can be used free of charge by students. Together with the Cooper Union , the Rhode Island School of Design is considered the most prestigious art school in the United States.
The RISD also includes the Rhode Island School of Design Museum , which is home to over 80,000 works of art. The school and museum currently employ around 350 lecturers and curators as well as 400 other employees. Approximately 2,300 students from the USA and abroad are currently enrolled as full-time students at RISD. Students are offered degrees in 19 main subjects as Bachelor or Master . The RISD currently has over 17,000 graduates.

"
