Ootje Oxenaar

Robert Deodaat Emile (Ootje) Oxenaar (born October 7, 1929 in The Hague ; died June 13, 2017 in Manomet, Massachusetts ) was a Dutch graphic artist.

Life

After studying fine arts at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague , he worked as a graphic artist for the Dutch Bank from 1966 to 1985 and designed two series of the Dutch guilder . From 1975 until his retirement in 1994 he also worked as a graphic designer for the Dutch Post. One of Oxenaar's working principles was to clearly distinguish the banknotes from one another in terms of color so that they cannot be confused. He used a picture of his girlfriend's rabbit as a watermark for the 250 guilder note.

From 1978 to 1992 he was a professor in Delft.
